August, 2002 Welcome Mark Freitag! Mark Freitag has joined our department as the new assistant professor of chemistry! Welcome Mark and wife Mary!

September 13, 2002. Welcome Party for Mark Freitag and Welcome Back to School Party at Dr. Julie Soukup's house.

September 3, 2002. Chemistry Club Ice Cream Social/Kick-off Event. (See more pictures)


November 5 and 6, 2002. A Melodious Musichemical Manifestation," will be presented twice during the first week of November. The first show is for Creighton faculty/staff and their families and Creighton students. That presentation will be Tuesday, November 5, at 7:30 in Rigge Science 120. The second show is intended for the Omaha community (e.g. high school students and their teachers, American Chemical Society members and their families, etc.). It will be Wednesday, November 6, at 7:30 in Rigge Science 120. Both programs are presented in celebration of National Chemistry Week. A bag of "Chemistry" goodies is given to all children attending. November 14, 2002. The Chemistry Department celebrates the 119th birthday of Chemistry at Creighton University! On November 14, 1883, Fr. Fr. A. A. Lambert, S.J. gave a lecture on combustion. From that beginning, the university began teaching chemistry on a more or less permanent basis.

November 16, 2002. This day is the anniversary of Professor Donald Baumann’s birthday. On this day, the Chemistry Departmentannounced the 2002 - 2003 Baumann Family Scholarships winners: Josh Waetzig andTrish Hoette (Read more about their proposed research.)
